Stage 4: Prototype
“Build to think and test to learn”
This is the stage where you bring your ideas to life! Your prototype is simply a scaled-down, sample version of what your proposed solution is, whether that’s a performance, film, product, service, campaign, or business. The aim is to have something tangible to offer real users for testing, so it is meant to be rough!
Examples of prototypes:
A 5-minute trailer on social media addiction (proposed solution: 1-hour documentary on social media addiction for teenagers and parents)
A booklet on the negative impacts of food waste and steps to reduce it (proposed solution: a campaign to reduce food waste among households)
An Instagram account highlighting the stories and achievements of people with disabilities (proposed solution: an NGO amplifying the voices of people with disabilities)
As you design your prototype, make sure you think about the whole user experience—how would you want your users to feel and think before, during, and after the experience? What changes do you want to see?
